9 Ways to be Happy and Make Something of your Life
Gordon
B. Hinckley
1. Be Grateful - Remember that
everything you have, others may need. Be grateful for everyday because many
people will not live to see another. Being grateful is a great way to be happy
because when you are grateful, you only thank the good in your life which means
you don't have time to think about the unpleasant things in life.
2. Be Smart - To be smart is to know
what to do. To be wise is to know when to do it. When people are smart and know
how to use it to their advantage they are capable of many great things in the
world.
3. Be Involved in Good Work - To do
good things, brings great rewards. Good Works are the things that not only
benefit you but also benefit others and it is best done when no reward is to be
expected to come out of it.
4. Be Clean - Be clean in everything
you do, whether it may be your thinking, your physical, your emotions, your
actions, your reactions, or your spirit. It is important to be FULLY clean to
be able to enjoy every aspect in life and not have any regrets.
5. Be True - Be true because it is the only way to
be happy. When you are being true to yourself, you are
completely honest with what you feel, deeply value, and desire. It also means
communicating your feelings wholeheartedly both with yourself and others, allowing
your truth to flow through you and into the world.
6. Be Positive – If you keep thinking the same
thoughts, day and night, they might, sooner or later, manifest in your world,
becoming your reality. This means that if you want your life to be as you want
it to be, you have to be careful of what you think. With a little work and
effort, you can change your attitude, expectations, actions and reactions, and
this will lead to more motivation, happiness, and improved life conditions.
7. Be Humble – To be humble means to accomplish
something great and not seek admiration from others. It means that a person may
have accomplished a lot, or be a lot but doesn't feel it is necessary to
advertise or brag about it. A person who is humble would think less of him/her-self
than other people would think of them. I
agree with the definition above that being humble is a rare quality because it
is necessary to succeed in today’s society because if you don’t brag then you
are rarely noticed through the hustle and bustle of daily competition be it in
education, work or just social conversation.
8. Be Still – In this modern world, activity and
movement are normal to us, if not with our bodies then at least with our minds.
We rush around all day, doing things, talking, emailing, sending and reading
messages, clicking from one browser tab to the next, one link to the next. We
are always on, always connected, always thinking, always talking. There is no
time to be still (and sitting in front of a frenetic computer all day, and then
in front of the hyperactive television, doesn’t count as stillness). Because of
this, we lose that time for contemplation, for observing and listening. We lose
peace. That is why it is important to take some time for ourselves and learn to
be still and absorb the smallest things around us and admire their beauty.
9. Be Prayerful
Reflection:
This Nine Ways Post took nine days to complete and I can truly say that I have honestly tried to implement these ways into my life and I along with many other people have noticed a great difference in me. These nine ways to be are a magnificent way to lead a life of happiness and no regrets. The first day we wrote about this post, I just wrote the way and treated it like just another class post, but as the days past and I got to work on this post more and more, I realized all of the things I would see online about these attributes and I admired the happy life these people were living. This is what motivated me to live a CTR life, too.
